Our ASC Certification Programmes
Our ASC standards set strict requirements for responsible seafood farming that encourage producers to farm with care for fish, the environment and the people on and around the farm.
The standards are changing
Each ASC certification programme drives the transformation of farmed seafood towards sustainability.
ASC Feed Standard
The ASC Feed Standard is accelerating progress towards sustainable farmed seafood through a holistic approach to aquafeed, requiring responsible sourcing for all major feed ingredients.
ASC Farm Standard
The ASC Farm Standard sets responsible practices for global seafood farming. Its impact-based sustainability requirements cover animal welfare, farm management, human rights and environmental stewardship for fish, farm, people and the planet.
The ASC species standards will remain operational until 30th April 2027.
ASC is implementing a two-year transition period for the ASC Farm Standard.
The ASC Farm Standard will become mandatory on 1st May 2027. The last date to start onsite audit activities agaist the ASC species standards is 30th April 2027. From 1st May all audits will be against the ASC Farm Standard.
Our certification programmes include the ASC Farm Standard, the ASC Feed Standard and the ASC species standards. Each programme is made up of a standard, supporting certification documents and tools. Together, they take into account environmental and social impacts across the supply chain.
The ASC Programme Centre is your all-in-one digital hub for all ASC Certification Programmes.
You can navigate through the digital, interactive standards, apply filters to represent your individual production criteria and quickly access all supporting documents and tools from the helpful toolbox.
The Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard
ASC uses the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard to verify the origin of seafood sold as ASC certified. In addition, ASC operates the ASC Chain of Custody Module which requires ASC Chain of Custody certificate holders to meet additional requirements covering topics such as food safety and antibiotic detection.
